News: Tesco Bags of Help - Vote for Us!

We're participating in the Tesco Bags of Help initiative and we need your help.

Tesco has teamed up with Groundwork to launch its community funding scheme, which sees grants of £4,000, £2,000 and £1,000 raised from carrier bag sales in Tesco stores awarded to local community projects.

Three groups in every Tesco region are shortlisted to receive the cash award and shoppers are being invited to head along to Tesco stores to vote for who they think should take away the top grant.

We're on the shortlist! The money raised from the Tesco Bags of Help initiative will go towards our Creative Summer School for local young people, giving them a chance to be creative this summer.

2 in 5 young people in Newham live in poverty and can't always afford to take part in fun activities over the holidays leading to boredom and gaps in attainment. For some, without the free meals schools provide, the summer holidays can also mean a lack of available healthy food.

Voting is open in all Tesco stores throughout March and April. Customers will be able to cast their vote using a token given to them at the check-out in store each time they shop.

Local Tesco stores taking part are:

East Ham High Street Express, E6 3PA
East Ham Katherine Road Express, E7 8LT
Forest Gate Express, E7 8AF
Gallions Reach Extra, E6 7FB
Green Gate Express, E13 9EZ
Upton Park Express, E6 1PU
Manor Park Express, EXP E12 5JY
Pilgrims Way Eham Express, E6 1HT
Stratford Express, E15 4EH
Upton Park Metro, E13 9AP
Woodgrange Forest Metro, E7 0QH

To vote, you will need to make a purchase within store of any value. You will receive one token per transaction and it's not necessary to purchase a carrier bag in order to receive a token. Please remember to vote for is when you shop!
