An exhibition of work celebrating some of the creative and inspiring local female artists, whose works cover various artistic forms, but have the theme of gender running through them.
Annette Ayivor's art is influenced by her love of the Harlem Renaissance, and draws out the cultural significance of modern Africa in her life. Using bold, vibrant and upbeat acrylics, she documents beautiful black women in a different era.
Eleanor Burkett specialises in re-imagining and re-tracing the past through objects and textiles of personal significance. The fragility of some of the textiles is reflected in the processes she uses which combine print methods, torn and cut paper and stitch.
