In 1940’s Hollywood, Stine struggles to turn his crime novel into a workable movie script, while his fictional gumshoe detective Stone is on the mean streets of LA, the City of Angels, in search of a runaway blond. This slick, witty, split-level musical is at once a critique of the Hollywood studio system of the 40s and a fabulous Chandleresque pastiche.
City of Angels is a fiercely intelligent, ‘film noir’ examination of how we keep our integrity, our identity and tell our stories, with a sexy, jazzy score.
It is performed by students on Rose Bruford College's ground-breaking BA (Hons) Actor Musicianship programme.
