Rebellious Dance from London's Most Provocative Choreographers
East London Dance’s Weekender returns with a curated programme of thought-provoking dance, spoken word, workshops and debates.
Combining cutting-edge choreography with social and political ideas, exceptional breakthrough artists Sean Graham, Lee Griffiths, Duwane Taylor and Sara dos Santos present ground-breaking dance theatre works, encompassing jazz, krump, contemporary and hip-hop, sewn together by Caleb Femi (Roundhouse Poetry Slam champion, 2015).
There will be a post-show discussion following the performance.
Workshops & Discussion
Jakari Sherman (USA), choreographer and ethnochoreologist rooted in African American tradition of Stepping, and choreographer and dance storyteller Cindy Claes will lead workshops and discussions on the history and practices of Stepping and cultural appropriation in dance.
