We develop diverse new talent and provide training opportunities and creative pathways for young people.
With our partner sixth form college NewVIc we co-present issue-led theatre specifically targeting teenagers and young adults with in-built opportunities to engage with the productions and issues related to the shows.
We’re also developing a series of youth-led open mic nights which will be totally produced and run by our Young Producers.
We work closely with Rose Bruford College of Drama and Performance running targeted workshops with local young people aged 13-18 from to raise aspirations and awareness of progression routes within the arts and theatre sector,
These creative projects give local young people the opportunity to work in a professional performing arts venue alongside a prestigious drama school. We’re also work with Newham Young Carers to support them in delivering their own youth arts projects over the coming year.
Young Producers & Open Mic Nights
Our Young Producers are a group of 18-25 year olds who are passionate about live events and looking to develop their skills through hands-on experience. 3 times a year we recruit a cohort of 6 Young Producers who are tasked with presenting a live event in our venue which gives opportunities to emerging artists and performers and brings in a local audience. They are offered training and guidance from our staff in marketing, programming, front of house, technical and event management and then the reins are handed over to them to take over and produce the event they want to put on! Check out previous & upcoming events on Twitter & Instagram.
We also host Open Mic Nights for 14-18 year olds to showcase local talent.
If you are interested in becoming a Young Producer, or are a local young artist/performer/musician who would like to perform at one of our youth-led events or open mic nights, please get in touch: firstname.lastname@example.org / 020 8279 1082
